I have recently begun a personal transformation, signaled by my spiritual and emotional growth. I have begun my great quest for truth, understanding that I have the answers to every question. I am enjoying the discovery of books that compliment my journey and redirect my thoughts beyond the generally accepted conditions. This book was no disappointment.
I first had to embrace the author's idea of a "messiah." This caused me to evaluate my personal definition which I found were based purely on stereotypical views generally accepted by most Christians. After placing my conditioning aside I was able to enjoy the satire as suggested in the title "The adventures of a reluctant messiah." Without delving too much into religion, Bach was able to breakthrough many common misconceptions all while recognizing the character's humility. He expressed the idea that our abilities are only limited to our imagination, that which we believe to be true. One of the questions raised in the book is, what do we believe to be true and most importantly, why? Who made it so? My rebellious nature found this anomaly refreshing. Who is it that makes the decisions, these laws we believe as fact? From the basics of gravity to the miracle of life, who makes it true? For too many that answer lies somewhere other than within, this I believe is the cause of missed happiness and thus created the need for illusions.
